Chase County is on the move. It's a busy time of year here on the tallgrass prairie. It was great to see so many at the Northern Flyer alliance presentation. Deborah Fisher Stout gave an informative presentation about proposed passenger rail server to Chase County. The Heartland Flyer would connect Fort Worth, TX through Oklahoma and on to Kansas City. Our Chamber is proud to support this effort.
On the same night Imagine Chase County, a citizen's coalition representing the four sides of the public square (government, education, business and health and human services) hosted a Community Conversation at the Community Building in Cottonwood Falls to discuss a unique opportunity to provide additional affordable housing for Chase County families. Public Square Communities, LLC in cooperation with KDOC are working to secure the manufacture and delivery of 3 bedroom / 2 bath homes. At the meeting, an action team was assembled to attend a statewide meeting in Hutchinson in June. This is an exciting opportunity.
We hope to see you on Saturday at the 3rd Annual Weenie Walk, starting in Bates Grove park at 10 am. The event will raise money for the completion of the Community Connection Trail, linking Cottonwood Falls to the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. It promises to be a beautiful day for a stroll.
